Are Private Policies considered as duplicate content

Since we all want to get rid of duplicate content, are privacy policies considered by Google as duplicate?

The wordings for example are very precise that you can't even try to re-write. In my sites, I'm using Privacy Policy generators to make one. I'm pretty sure that almost all of our sites contain similar texts when it comes to this page.

I don't think that you have to worry about that. I follow Google's example very closely. The important thing is to have one accessible from your site.

It won't but it's a good practice adding nofollow attribute to all pages which you don't want to be indexed.

SEOBunny and bluearrow are 100% correct on this. Just throw disallow in your robots and you should be ok =)

    Yes this is good practice.
But I think Google is "smart" enough to deal with such issues now...

Yes, they may get considered as duplicate content. If you have a duplicate privacy policy Google will drop that page from its index.

If you can't re-write it, you may use content spinner and later proof read it for modification.

Or you can use robots.txt files with them as seobunny said.

Even if its duplicate content, I think that only that page is going to get dropped and no one is going to come to your site just for your privacy policy. (Usually depending on your niche of course)

I’m using same Privacy Policies on all of my websites because I just too lazy to write the different one for different site. From my experience, it’s not affecting your SEO so you don’t have to worry. It’s same as what I do in making Disclosure and Disclaimer page.

I think everyone with a website that includes a privacy policy page uses some sort of template or example. I don't think these pages are considered website content as such. It's just wise to have a privacy policy in place to cover yourself, especially if you're selling a service or product, collecting email addresses, etc..

Another thing...if you hide your privacy policy page from the SE's, wouldn't that work against you ?
If it's so important to show a link to your policy, why would you want to hide it in the first place ?

It is also a requirement if you use Adsense on your site.

You can change the wordings and make it suitable for your website. You can first make few rough drafts and write the perfect one so that it is not having duplicate content.
