    Do subdomain rank?

    Hey Guys,

Let's say my site started as an EMD, was getting up fast in google and and before I started creating a content it disappeared from google search (slap).

Can I create a new site on a subdomain and rank it successfully?

I don't want a situation when a bad doamin hurts the subdomain.

    Thx

    *I meant "subdomains"

Sure they rank, but the question is are you wanted to build subdomain on slapped domain.
Well if the answer is yes it is not that good idea.
One more thing, subdomains are not consider professional and not "serious" enough...
Nowadays you can buy domain from $1-$8, so do yourself a favor and start fresh.

Creating subdomain on a slapped site is just like building your house on weak base that might fell down when heavy rain comes. I don't suggest this.

    I too agree with others.
Sub-domain do rank if they are worked upon correctly. But then why you want to build it on a slap domain?
I too used to have a sub domain previously, it ranks good on Google, but later i realize the best is to get a name on own on the Internet.

i do agree with all of your opinion above... just make something look professional or look 'clean' domain... yes of course.. with lot of hardwork and paid work.. you can earn your higher ranking... but.. in the eye of clickers (visitor).. it mean different..

but i think it is ok if you just wanna make subdomain as tier 1 links

AFAIK subdomains are just as good as domains. Google treats them the same. If you have a good website Google will rank it just as highly whether it's a subdomain or domain. I read a site recently that did an experiment to try to evaluate subdomains vs domains. The experiment found no difference. I didn't save the address, unfortunately.

I understand that you want to create sub-domains for your branding purpose and you do not want people to inform again about your new URL. But, in this situation you need to create a new domain and place a link on your old domain with a no-follow link to new one and in the mean time you can even work on the older website to improve it. Because in both the situations whether you want to go for sub domains or new one.

Yes, I personally own web2.0backlinks.com and notice it ranks for that exact phrase. It's almost treated as an EMD. I would only use a subdomain if it's for clever marketing purposes such as this example for name continuation or if the authority website is extremely trusted
