Thread: 1% keyword density

I want to know what is meant by "1% keyword density". Can anyone tell me what is the number of keywords that should be available in an article. Lets say I am writing on the keywords "goal". I want to know how many time I should include the word "goal" in the article for 1% keyword density.

Use 'goal' or a variation of 'goal' one time for every 100 words in the article. If the total word count for the article is 500 then you would use your keyword five times for a 1% keyword density.

And if ever the article is about 1000words, then it will be 10times for each 100words.

yeah , but when i added more than 1% what would will be happen? is that good or gone bad ?

Total number of articles words-500
Total number of keywords-5
Keyword density=1%. Therefore write articles of 500 unique words and written 5 times same or different keywords.

Actually there are different keyword density rules for different search engines. According to google rules you can use 3%-7% keyword density on your article. When you will break this guideline your site/blog will get penalize by big "G".

Since I write articles and submit to directories, I prefer to use 1% density as per ezines request

you can use between 1% and 3% keyword density to get it right and without any problems with google.

I suggest you to keep the keyword density to a maximum of 4 times in a web page irrespective of the size of the article, because once the keyword will be used in title than you can use it max 3 times in an article. Avoid keyword stuffing as it may lead to spam of your article and affect your blog and in turn site too.

Swapnil has the better advice. If the kw is in the title, keep it to a min.

However, I am consistently seeing pages with 6 and 8 percent kw density ranking in 1, 2, 3rd position on page one for non competitive keywords with traffic in the 4k to 15k monthly without kw in the titles. This research was done last week on an insignificant sample size - less than 1,000 pages.

don´t know if the examles are so right, I see many domains with keyword in domain int title in metas and mor 4 repaets in body, most got a density of more than 3% and rank top ten for competitive niches

1% keyword density is very low, you can say it is almost nothing however you should not cross 4% of your total content. If you will exceed this limit then it will consider as keywords stuffing which is black hat technique.

judging from the conversation above, apparently can not be more than 3% but at least 1%. I personally use 1% - 2% keyword density. and for it to work (safely)

But keyword density has almost no importance for rankings it's actually a very negative thing since you're likely to create low quality crappy articles (which will lower down your website conversion rates and may even "piss off" spiders).
