    Keyword research tools

I am looking for a keyword research tool that can help me create a list of Keywords with the number of searches per month and the number of results per search to do a crude supply and demand research.

I've been using Adwords and Google to come up with the figures, but it is way too time consuming.

Does anyone know of a free tool that can help speed the process up?

Thanks in advance, I know I can count on the good people in this forum.

not a lot of free tools hanging around, but I have been using google keyword for years, and it works great for my needs.

else you could pay for a tool, some of them are quite good.

Adwords works great, but it is too time consuming to do in depth market analysis. I'm trying to save a little time with this tool. I am downloading Market Samurai to check it out, but I am not ready to invest in a tool right now. Does any one know of a free tool?

Does anyone know what ever happened to Xedant? I heard that was an open source keyword analysis tool, but now it says it is a keyword database.

I think that Traffic Travis also has a free version, but I don't know what the limitations are.

I doubt that you will find anything really good for free. The life of a keyword tool developer is not easy. The one that I am most familiar with uses data from Google's keyword tool. It is against the terms of service to pull this data with a bot. Google changes things on a regular basis to prevent this from happening. There is a program update every couple of weeks to accommodate the changes that Google makes to the site. It would be hard for the developer of a free tool to keep up with the changes.

I looked into Traffic Travis, and it does not do what I want it to do. I also tried Market Samurai, but it did not work well for me. It took forever, and eventually it just froze.

The constant updates preventing people from creating free tools makes a lot of sense. I just cannot stand to spend that much time looking up that many keywords. Maybe I just need to create a tool that does what I need it to do.

The Google keyword is my favorite. You can look up the search traffic for any key phrase. Just Google "Google Keyword Tool" and it will be the first result.

Oh, I agree. Don't get me wrong. Adwords keyword tool is perfect for its purpose. I was able to create a great PPC campaign with it. The problem with it its that when you use it for keyword research for SEO, it does not give you "supply". It is perfect for finding "demand," but to find "supply," you have to Google every keyword separately. That is time consuming.

Maybe there is a way to create a Google widget that would help find out how many websites pull up with a certain keyword. Does anyone know? I'll look it up when I get to a computer.

No offense....the tool is probably fine.

    That's where opinions differ...
Google's keyword tools are not always accurate.

If I compare google's tools and my own tools, usually when google tells me it's a good keyword to market for my own tools tell me it's not worth it to go for it, because of too much competition.
    And often vise versa...

I'm not saying this is always the case, but for me most of the time. When I use my own tools I always find a keyword I can rank for on the first page of google.

it's not that Google's tool is inaccurate. Most tools, like Micro Niche Finder, use this tool to gather information. Googles keyword tool it's the best tool out there for finding demand. The problem is that the tool does not help you find competition. That's where told like Micro Niche Finder and other similar tools come into play.

I use a combination of Google trends and Google insights tool. They provide data more precisely. One can get reliable results by using trial versions of tools like word tracker and multiply the results per day by 30.This will give the global monthly search volume
