    Benefit of long tail keywords

    Hi,

I would like to share one thing about long tail keywords, long tail keywords are really very targeted and easy to rank.

As the keywords are long so they are what visitors are looking for. For example, "mortgage article directories" is better than "article directories" for ranking well and for giving what visitors are looking for.

I attended a SEO conference thing (probably a little smaller than a traditional conference) and there was a presenter that showed stats he came up with and such and showed, his research, that said that something like 70% of all searches are off the wall, random searches and only like 20% of searches are the larger keywords...thus most searches are very specific in nature (long-tail)...pretty interesting to think about.

Long tail keywords are often more specific in nature. Having long keywords lessen competition. You could also have better conversion rates through sales and clicks.

yeah long tailed keyword can be obviously pawned very easily but what if that so called long tailed keyword have only 1000 monthly global or local searches? is it still worth trying? unless that long tailed keyword has at least 300k+ monthly searches and that's worth the pawning . So be careful on your targeted keyword.

Also when your long-tail keywords get ranked they will by default pass along credibility to the main domain name

I love finding good lingtail keywords. They are far better to rank for and most people target the keywords with 40k monthly searches. I rather go after a REAL targeted long tail keyword with 500-1k hits a month
