Add Google's Wonder Wheel to Your Keyword Research Arsenal

In a post that came into one of my autoblogs: Using Google's Wonder Wheel in Keyword Research I was introduced to a feature in Google of which I was not aware. I hope that many of you were not in the dark as I was, but if so this will shed some light on the subject.

The Wonder Wheel is accessible from the search results page. Enter your keywords in the search box as usual. In the left nav column you can find the Wonder Wheel if you expand enough options. As explained in the article this is a quick and easy way of finding related keywords to your search and building a keyword list.

Good tips for help finding Short and Medium-Tail keywords. Interestingly, WonderWheel shows somewhat different results than the the drop-down 'Related Searches' Goog also offers. Between the two you can come up with a good list of 12-15 keywords. Still it's smart to load them into a keyword tool like MarketSamurai to get a better sense of the TRAFFIC numbers behind some of those phrases

The idea seems novel but is it effective? I have my doubts. I think Google Keyword research tool is quite effective. However, you have the right to disagree.

Google does give good clues about the most popular keyword phrase sequences - but these are also likely to be the MOST COMPETITIVE phrases as well... In some niches they might do wonders for your Posts or Page Titles - in other more competitive spaces you could be hopelessly slugging it out. In that case, I agree with Johnno - they might be better used for strength as categories, post tags, and bookmarking tags.
