How do you build email list for email marketing?
Please share with us, I'm also looking for ways of building great list of emails which are good for doing email marketing.
I am wondering if it is worthwhile to join some of the Safelists, like Adchiever or Listbuck, which provide email addresses to start to build my list. I plan on using MailChimp at first, since it is free for up to 2000 email addresses.
Recently, I have put a squeeze page online to build my list. Now I am learning and trying out different methods for driving traffic to it.
I haven't looked into acquiring email addresses in bulk. What I have heard so far is that this method is fairly low converting, but I haven't actually tried it.
I would like to hear more about it though. Like whether such emails are divided up by niche or are they just random addresses?
hi,
i checked out mailchip but the free service that they have don't contain auto-responder service which is very much needed by an internet marketer.

hi alex,
if you are planning to build a list then the 1st thing you should do is create an offer which you can give away fro FREE & in return you ask for the email address & name of the person.
you will have to use auto responders to build a good relationship with the people in your list, then only you can have a good email marketing campaign.
kindest,

I definitely think that the best approach is to try and build your own list. As is mentioned, buying lists in is likely to result in poor conversion rates and quality is really difficult to guarantee.
There are several ways to build a list. Important is: how do you build a responsive list.
You aqcuire targeted subscribers only if they are looking for exactly that information you're offering. That's why safelists are not the way to go IMO, because their members are generally freebie hunters to use free downloads for their own not-responsive lists. The same goes for most adswap websites, although if you pick your swap partners carefully (ask them everything you want to know) you can build a fairly responsive list. But it's hard to swap with anyone if you don't have a list yet. If you're willing to spend some money on solo ads you'll get quite good results. Again...if you pick the listowner carefully and ask for proof of for example click rates.
The best list is generated from sales of your own product or service, taking it's very high quality and valuable content.
You'll build a buyers list and this will be your most valuable asset when it grows in number of subscribers.

the most recognize method is doing PPL(pay per lead). But require funds to make that.. it is not easy these day to make a really profitable list unless you do have a lot of money to make your own PPL campaign
One of the methods I use is to put a capture form on highly visited web pages on my website. But you need to first purchase an auto responder program and prepare a series of follow-up email messages, which are sent to your subscribers that subscribe through your capture form. Some of the best auto responder services include getresponse.com, aweber.com and trafficwave.net. This is one of the safest methods to build your email opt-in list. Although it takes long to build your email list with this method, it is safer and more effective. It's easier to make a sale to people in the opt-in list you have built yourself because they are already interested in your products.
I don't recommend buying an opt-in list composed of people whose email addresses you don't know whether they are still existing or not. You cannot know whether they are interested in your products/services or not and when you just send emails to them, you can easily be tagged a spammer, which is detrimental to your online business.
Don't believe anyoe who's selling huge lists with opt-ins.
You don't know how the list was generated, if it's really an opt-in list, these people have been screwed over terribly, because when they opted in they were promised their information "will not be sold or spread otherwise...".
You'll be reported as a spammer after the first email you send out to this list...no joke.

to buy target leads, the easiest way to get mails
Interesting topic. I want to find more about this subject, too!
If those were targeted leads...why would someone sell the list ?
Why not make money promoting products to the list ?
Why would you sell an important asset in an online business for the low prices you can buy these worthless lists for ?
Buy targeted leads in the form of solo ads.
See how marketers with quality lists treat these lists.
They're very careful, because they don't want to lose any subscribers...
Mind you, the whole world is full of people who will subscribe to some list if they can get something for free.
That doesn't mean it's a targeted subscriber.

Andre, not so simple to make money fro leads. I must to have good software, good proxies and many more.
A very effective method in building a mailing list is to create an opt-in form in your website. You can offer a free service, i.e. free website evaluation or free VA services, or a free product, i.e. a free e-book or a free report. Basically, it's them giving out their email addresses in return for your free service/product. You can also ask them to sign up for a free newsletter, which should contain new information related to your website's topic. In a nutshell, you will build a mailing list by converting your website visitors into long-term subscribers.
LinkedIn is a great source if you are looking for targeted B2B leads. Identify the LinkedIn groups that are relevant to your business and inititate dialog with each group member. Now, if you write
personalized emails after researching the prospect company well and tailor your email appropriately, you should get good response. I recently watched a free webinar on a related topic and I'm sharing a method that was discussed in the webinar. Hope you find it useful. enterprise[dot]jigsaw[dot]com/webinar/newrules-email-prospecting.pdf
We also have B2B leadgen tools that can help you import the members from LinkedIn groups, and the best part is that you don't have to be a member of that group. You will get the name of the member and the current company from LinkedIn. Using these as inputs, our LeadGrabber software will do deep web searches to find the business email address and phone number of the member.
Thanks

I think building e-mail list should be started by building good blog with high quality content, build your reputation through your blog, and then start to share high quality and original freebies (not PLR product) by asking people to submit their data on opt-in list.
I don't see how software and proxies have anything to do with how you make money from leads.
An autoresponder service, a good free offer, valuable content in your autoresponder sequence and perhaps a few good partners who are willing to send traffic to your squeeze page are the way to get leads. Those who don't like what you're oofering will just unsibscribe. Those who are looking exactly for the info you're providing will most likely buy from you.
Most important is LOTS of traffic to your squeeze page where they have to opt in.
Selling lists with hundreds of thousands of email addresses is the same as scamming in my opinion, especially if they tell you "they're high quality and targeted leads".
I would never sell a list with targeted prospects...that would be just REALLY stupid. So those lists that are being sold are definitely useless...
