What matters most is . . . is the mailing-list management system suited to doing what you need it to do.

A free list-management system is NO USE to you, if it doesn't do what you need!

So start by thinking through what you need done, and what features are necessary for that.

Only after you're clear on that, should you start looking at things like free offers.

There can sometimes be ways around limitations. For example, I am using MailChimp to build my lists, which are not large yet. The free use of MailChimp (when your total list members are under 2,000) does not include use of AutoResponders, BUT, I just send the welcome email manually to new members, every day by adding them to a Group "New", sending the Welcome email to that Group, then taking those new members off that Group but leaving them in the list.

For anyone selling a lot of products, GetResponse is the only one I know of which allows you to add your buyers directly to your list (using integrations, which work with JVZoo, Warrior Payments etc.), rather than losing most of them with a multi-stage opt-in like other list-management systems do. While you are only selling small numbers, this doesn't matter . . . I am manually importing new buyers to my buyers list, each day, but when your system grows and you're selling a lot, GetResponse is likely to make more sense (as far as I know, they are still free for the first 30 days).

So think about use and features first, then price second. A free system that doesn't do what you want, is no help !

    Chris

Almost any 'free' list will be worth exactly what you paid for it!

Some of them, including Aweber, Mailchimp, iContact, are good and have free trials.

There are others like Sendblaster, Sendlane and Sendy.co that you may wan to have a look.
