DP is dying

Once DP was the most famous and most visited forums online. Netizens from many countries used to visit DP regularly. But suddenly it began to lose it's position and now DP is dying !!!

At the time i create this thread, DP has about 2000 visitors and WF has 7400 + visitors online.

Why DP is dying ? my answers is > > > they have strict forum rules and no one like them.

I have predicted this few years ago, and was in argue with DP staff when they introduced new thread sort order in BST section and many reputable and honest sellers lost their business, then DP become nest for scammers and crap services...
I can't forgive myself for not creating IM and SEO forum in early years when all of these "big" forums where just starting.
DP had great potential, but they ruined it by their stupid rules and crappy mods and by not giving their members what they want and need,
Warrior recognized that and saw great opportunity and take advantage of that, so it is now by far the biggest IM and SEO forum.
Warrior is great forum and my favorite community after IMT , they also have some rules which I can't understand, but what forum doesn't
Forum owner/admins/mods must constantly "listen" to their members and make it more pleasing place for them to share, learn and earn,
forum is here for members in the first place not for forum owners, admins or mods, these are things that every forum owner/admin/mod needs to remember!

DP Banned me cause I was posting an huge Autoapproved Blog List.
In the Email the ADmin told me that he is not interessted to have german members... he already got enough in DP...

nevermind... Im really really happy that DP banned me.

Cause I was meeting the first time Nemanja in DP.
Nemanja told me in DP that he is creating an new SEO Forums.
After he was launched the Forum... I was one of the first Members here...

And I can remember that I wrote: "I will stay in IMT for forever"...

Anyway Im happy that DP Banned me.. because of the bann I met Nemanja and his IMT project soo happy

i dont post anything thats beneficial to the site just myself
and yeh i have been amazed at them

oh and seobunny if thats their attitude then screw em they aint worth visiting and tbh after seeing that i will seriously rethink what i do after my latest little venture is finished there i doubt i will use them ever again
nemanja this is a great forum you have and you should be proud i moderate on a smaller forum but tbh i have sort of stopped as i find its mainly me thats dealing with the spam comments nobody else,at least here you can see every action is appreciated

On top of that he took away revenue sharing and began charging for access. He charges WAY too much. WF only charges $25 and it is soooo worth it.

I'm hoping that IMT takes over from DP, especially the sellers market.

I think their mistake is they over estimate the value of their forum. But now there are lots good forums out there and People don't bother about old "web master" type forums. I think now the trend is traffic and marketing.

Refuse to change with the world of web change will be the reason for their downfall. Still it's a huge forum and lot of good members are there who like to help others So I still post there when I want to get a quick answer about something.

WF charge only $37 for 20 years. Its way too cheap.

WF's decision to charge a reasonable one-time fee is excellent. It is the line between the casual visitor and the committed one.

They still make money in a variety of other ways, especially advertising.

People continually point out the value of joining and others decide to join, because of that encouragement.

The big thing is that there needs to be plenty of good reasons to join and take part. Once the volume of users are present, the forum will make good money. It can't rest on a few core members. There must be volume.

I don't think annual fees are a good idea. As soon as the forum starts to lose followers (maybe it's temporary) people will again ask themselves if its worth it. Each time is a potential loss of a member. The prospect of having to pay again and again weighs heavily on prospective members.

As long as WF doesn't do something drastic then the value will still be there. People will continue to feed the "War Room", which perpetuates the value.

As for IMT, I think there is real value here, it's just that we need to get people to see it.

then go to see WF, they have always about 7000 + online users. For a forum, number of registered users are USELESS, what is useful is how many ACTIVE MEMBERS they have. DP's most threads are crap. it was better than WF before, but not check the difference between WF and DP.

Alexa rank of DP is 180 - + and Alexa rank of WF (if you mean warriorforum) is 266. I have seen soo many people crying about various big forums dying but all of these forums are still live and kicking (DP, SP, NP, DnForum, Devshed). I don't anyone of you even know about DevShed which is one of the oldest webmaster forums. I have been a member there 8+ years and still has around 1000+ active users and soo few active users from the day I have joined that forum. Pretty boring and very strict place than even DP except for PHP developers. It's still out there.

In all big forums sales boards have crap posts DP has crappiest. But a value of a forum can count from that and I'm not trying compare DP or WF because they are different kind of forums. Because these forums are in different categories. WF is IM forum and Majority of members are serious IM people. It's not a people where a newbie webmaster can sell stuff you can call crap or useless. But for for webmastering related technical things DP is better.

In reality not all sites die because there are less active users ( exception of Social networking). Big successful forums are owned by smart people (most of the time). DP owner might be the most arrogant and unfriendly forum owner you (and I ) might have ever seen but yet he is a smart guy. I doubt he would be just still there and waiting if DP is dying.
