Thread: My Ideas to Get Good Domain Name to Sell

1. Search for someone you think soon will be popular
2. Register the domain by using his name. Probably the domain is still available because that person isn’t popular yet.
3. Selling domain when the person actually become famous.

There is a risk of doing this method because you don’t know if that person is really going to be popular or no. But once you successfully predict the next popular person and get the domain name by using their name, you’ll be amazed how easy to sell it the in high price.

Im not sure thats any sort of business plan. There has been plenty of cases of trademarks being registered only to be handed back to the complainant. I think i read of a case where Apple got a load of domains back from a person through the courts. Things like AppleiPhone4Apps.com and things very close to the original branded name are too much of a gamble for me.

In your suggestion you are mentioning people which might be different, however how many names are you going to register in the hope that one day one becomes so rich he/she will pay you massively to get their domain?

Id stick with good generic .Com names and look to flip those for 10 x profit, I've done quite a few recently, its surprising how easy it is to turn a $10 domain into a $100. Its finding the ones that are worth $10000 thats near on impossible.

You need short punchy brandable domain names (usually .coms) these days to usually earn the big bucks with domain flipping. And these are hard to find. If you close your eyes and just randomly press any combination of about 5 letters or less on your keyboard, I bet you'll find that someone has grabbed it up as a .com lol... Don't believe me? Try it. I already have and came up nothing. If you do luck up doing that and find one available, then you should grab it! Even if it doesn't make sense, it may be valuable to resell for great profit to a company that could use it as an acronym domain name for their company or something.

So do you mean you believe if there is 5 letters domain that still available (even it's hard to find)? It would be a great idea to try!

I think with the growing domain options, it is no use today. even if you take it for some commercial movie, the producers find a new way of changing the name to "Themovie<movie name>

I wanted to buy a few domains last year, but I was afraid that they sue me. I don't wanna fight with apple & co.

GREAT PLAN! but if you make a domain with at least pr3, 100k alexa it can be worth 300$.

sound impossible to predict but nothing possible to try and get surprised who is going to be popular soon, but if that person don't become famous yet for about 2-3 year, you just need to keep in mind about domain renewal, just stop it, or gamble it

Good method is to look at future sporting event e.g. the world cup... where it will be, for example country2024.com fill it with the event info and sell it, be worth a lot.

i think someone or big company was already bought for another 10-20 years ahead this is because, the year of event is already know, you just need to fill in the hos/venue of the event

Do not forget subdomains!
My customers use my traffic program to register unlimited "targeted" subdomains (the cost of these domains is zero). After that they can resell what they want.

Also be careful when you handling celeb names or those names which might become trade marks or already trade marked.
