No nothing to do with CC. I can say its a quite pure legit method and you'll not be in trouble in future with this method.

I am toying with the idea of trying this out for the sole purpose of creating a business account in order to conduct transactions without using my personal PP account.
Granted $5 is not a lot of money... but is there any (reasonable) chance that an account created in this fashion could get shut down or banned?

I would hate to establish an account that I conduct business through only to have ti closed in 5 months from now.

This method does no work. The reason is not Paypal rather the account you linked with Paypal. In a day or 2, your linked account will be limited and Paypal limited your account because of this. So better to get a Dedicated VPN with a Verified Paypal Account.........I would still suggest you to choose 2checkout
