Once I have earned $30 with freelancer.com without milestone when I was newbie that the buyer cheated with me.....don't pay me! From then I leave freelancer.com...Now working on oDesk........

I did try oDesk but did not get a single project there. I agree with you about freelancer. There are lots of buyer who make you do their work but they do not pay. I even lots $500 for a data scrapping work. But now I prefer to work for buyer I have worked previously. With them it is much better.

oDesk is a bit of a "what you put in is what you get out" kind of place. I've been with them for a few years now and won't try another freelance agency. It all depends on the work you do and the client you do it for

Yes, I agree with you. Also I am not trying to involve any other freelancing market place although I have worked on elance.com also.

Actually freelancer.com is big job marketplace. I have no any complain about freelancer.com. But some buyers may fake. So I recommend for don't work with any buyer without sufficient milestone. Even some buyers may offer "this is a long time project and if we satisfy we will hire you for long time". And then ask some sample work without milestone as trial basis. This type of most offers I see fake, that I am telling from my previous experience.
And if you are able to make a milestone from your buyers then you no need to find out buyers where you worked previously.

Ya correct that's the point. Because can you imagine losing $500. It is a huge amount. But nowadays I ask them to create milestones first before working. If they don't create it then I reject the work.

Got addicted to it for "sharing/gaining knowledge" - I totally agree. But you cannot also deny that you are out to be the contest winner also

Unless I win, I cannot be termed as a winner !

Yet I am too far from the destination (1000 activity pts :P) and can easily be outranked by any other user.
