I really understand you... Back in the days when I was still at my day job (it sounds so funny and somehow strange now) I was finding myself sleeping in front of my PC doing my (at that time) second/dream job, fighting with each and every last atom of my energy to accomplish my dream...
Let me give the example of my week, getting up in 6 AM driving 150kms in one direction(more than a half of my working days we where working on remote locations, usually banks) working for 8 hours, driving back 150 kms, I arrive home at about 6-7PM, eat, showering(and relaxing along the way if that was even possible ), then go to work on my IM projects till 1 or 2 or 3 AM(it depends on when I actually can't see the screen any more, really no kidding), then I repeat that till Friday, then on Saturdays and Sundays I'm working like mad on my projects 26 hours a day and the next week again, and again and again....
I was even working on my vacations and I enjoyed it, really .

This is the only way to go, except if you are lottery winner or some rich kid, but then I guess you wouldn't be in this business in the first place.
You need to push yourself to the final limits and I mean real limits if you want to make your dream come true.
Then things will get better and you will find yourself working less, making more and if you wish you can work more and make even more , if that have sense now to you...

There are always 100 things that you know must be done with your sites. With limited time, and we all have limited time even if we are doing IM full time, you need to break the things that need to be done into specific tasks and make a list. Prioritize your task list with the things that are most likely to produce a desired result at the top of the list. Then focus on the one item at the top of the list and work through that task. Try to keep the tasks small and specific, but complete one task before moving on to the next task. With so many things that need to be done it is too easy to begin one task and then be distracted by something else and work on that for a while. The end result is that you have started 20 tasks but finished none. If you think of something not on your list, add it to the list instead of being distracted by it.

    Hi Franberries,

Sometimes I have the same feeling (no time or even worst time waste... I have a full time job as well, but I do it from home, so during the 8 hours I can get small tasks for my own IM projects), but I recommend always to see whats the next step or at least what is the next micro step or micro task and avaoid to walk in circles. I would try to rethink the project(s) and handle it step by step, also relatively and not absolutely (If you face everything at the same time you will feel unable and give up). "Be realistic, ask and fight for the impossible"

Great advice from Wink, this is the way to go.
You need to make big plan, broken down to some smaller plans/steps that can be easily done in few hours or even minutes, so that way you will be satisfied that things are moving forward and getting done.
And you will be pushed to move forward, so for each and every step you create you will be closer to your goal.

I think you also need to take action without the fear of failing. Think of many superstars, they have failed many times before they made it big. Even Donald Trump was bankrupt before. Don't fear failure or mistake as long as you can learn from them.

Same situation here like Nemanja. I build up my "dream" since 1 1/2 years now besides my main job as an IT Managing Consultant. I make 50% of my regular income with my projekts now and I am looking for the right time to make the cut, because I make the 50% with 30% of the time from my main job. I could do a lot more, but even my day has 24 hours and I have family too ;-)

I developed a Content Ceation Suite for SEO purposes by myself and something that helped me a lot was "outsourcing", especially the nasty little but time comsuming activities. Sometimes there are in my case some programmings to do where I would sit hours to find the best solution, but this is wasted time for me. So I hire someone on e.g. freelancer.com, pay 50 to 100 US$ and have the solution some hours later.

thanks a lot guys.. i am getting a lot of motivation now by reading all your post.. i am working out my own mind map now.. i sketch it on my whiteboard.. all nemanja said is true.. you need to fight until the last atom of your energy.. my biggest problem is.. when i come back home from day job.. all i see is my bed.. the best i think, i need to take a nap for a while, then wake up... do a smaller plan first.. then after that i would go for perfect sleep for about 5-6 hours.. then when the weekend time arrive, i would go all out of my energy to finish all the work i need to sacrifice my sweet weekend for the sake of my dream.. usually when the weekend come.. i just get wasted with friends.. hanging out.. watch movie.. now it is time to change my lifestyle... thanks again guys for giving me such advice.

hey franberries, i had the same problem. Much work in my main job and then internet marketing in my freetime. The first thing i have done was buying a paper block and wrote concepts and mindmaps for all my projects. One site for every project and what to do. Now i had over 50 sites with my notes. I sort all papers by relevance and finished one project after the other. I took a long time but now i have my time in hand and before i start a new project i write down my mindmap. Finish first all construction zones before you start new projects!
