    Linking microsoft outlook

Is it possible to link Microsoft outlook with our hotmail, Gmail or any other account? I wish to use Outlook to see my mails instead of going to their website.

You can. I have linked both my hotmail and gmail before. Each email should hav settings you could use to import them into outlook... hold up a sec, just looking at gmail. got it

For gmail, go to your settings, and look for a tab called forwarding and POP/IMAP. it has the outlook configuration settings at the bottom of the page, and the settings you would need to ue to forward emails to outlook. Your settings option in hotmail should have something similar.

Have you tried using Windows Live Mail if you are using hotmail, never used it myself yet, but it looks very similar to outlook.

Thanks for sharing the technique. That's a great help. Instead of opening all the accounts on Gmail, yahoo and hotmail it would be a lot easier to have them all in one plat form. Outlook is great and it can send multiple mails in one go that really saves time.

No I've never used live mail. I'm just on hotmail. Can a hotmail account be accessed in live? If I type [email protected] which is originally a [email protected] will it be accessible?.......Hmm let me check.........Nope access denied, I think I will have to create one in live then. I'll check about that being similar to outlook, but I think outlook is way much easier as we do not have to go to any site for that.

You're welcome. I had my work email and personal email running through outlook at one point, and it was convenient, but in the end, I had PC problems, and have not been able to reconfigure everything again.

Phoenyx I've tried many times to forward my gmail emails to my hotmail account even though I have verified it to be forwarded but its not happening? Gmail still has those incoming mails in itself and hotmail is unaware of the happenings, what seems to be the problem?

hmmm, are you getting the mail in outlook? It could be a problem with the configuration settings. I do know though, that when I diverted my emails to outlook, I still had copies of the emails semd to hotmail and gmail.

YES.......success now I got it. Thank you a lot. It has been forwarded and I've kept the option to save a copy in Gmail too in case my computer faces a problem I could still access my mails from Gmail then.

Phoenyx's advice is great I've tried it and had success. You too can do it, the its simple once you've done it just look at all the options before getting hasty. I forgot to mark enable forwarding and thought that the process was not working. Its great now all the mails can be read in one place instead of opening many tabs.

I use ThunderBird. The ride was a bit bumpy when they changed to the new Mozilla code base, but they have most of the rough spots worked out now. I have over 40 addresses loaded into the client.

I've tried it, but I think at that point I must have done something wrong ( my curiosity ends up leaving me with broken things all the time), but it is a great email client as well, many of my friends use it. Is it better than oulook wink0r?

Better in that it is freeware. I don't have office, although it was on the first computer that I bought. I used Outlook Express, but if it gets up around 6 GB it gets a severe headache and quits. It dumped on me several times. Back when it was built nobody thought that people might do anything silly like emailing videos.

LOL I can see how that would be a problem. I will have to give it another go methinks. Although I don't really email videos lol.
