I got a spam email typical of those sent from a compromised computer that said 'sent from my ipod' the other day. I replied stating that I thought the named sender had a virus (actually more like trojan). I just got a thank you note confirming that the ipod had a problem.

All you Apple/iphone/ipod users beware! The bad guys are starting to look in your direction. One of my AV affiliate programs recently announced a security suite for MAC.

IT people have always said that the claimed security of the platform was due to the low market penetration so that nobody cared about writing malware for the MAC platform. The world is changing.

I will definitely have a look into this. As it is I have a trend micro safe search on my iPhone4, which I use instead of the installed safari browser. I wonder how these are being compromised though. Through everything you add to your iPhone when transferring music etc. Or can you get it from an online search.

All the usual vectors will work on a MAC as well as a PC (it is just that the malware must be MAC specific). Apple users may be an easy target for a while because of the false sense of security that is packaged with the products.

I can believe that. When I got my phone, I searched all over for an antivirus for it. even the app store had nothing but the trend micro safe search. Many of my other smartphones had an antivirus, so it was strange that my iPhone had no such thing, or apparently didn't even need it according to everyone.
