My computer is moving like a turtle

I'm having a problem with my computer at home. Lately, it's been functioning really slow. I can't figure out why and what happened. My brother told me maybe because of overloaded saved files and applications in it. Is that true? Please let me know what steps might be done for this. Thanks in advance.

You can make restore point to the date when you know your PC(I guess) was OK.

    What are your system specifications?

When a PC slows down, there could be many different reasons.

    It could be:
    • Too many applications, in which case it would be a good idea to uninstall a few that you aren't using.
    • It could be too many saved files, which could take up hard drive space and could slow down your PC because it would limit the amount of hard drive space your PC uses for virtual memory. But you would get a notification on your taskbar if that is the case.
    • It could also be a virus. If you have downloaded anything recently, or taken files or applications from a CD, DVD, or memory stick, you simply need to run a scan.
    • It could also be that a component on your PC is faulty, i.e RAM. You should see what your RAM is on POST when you boot the PC. It lists any GPU memory first, and then when it loads peripherals, it should show you your RAM size on that page as well. You should be able to see any faulty components in your device manager, and your event viewer will have logs about hardware errors as well.

There are few things you can do and see if things improve or not,

    1) Goto Add/Remove programs and install all things you don't need.
    2) Goto " Run " Type " msconfig " then goto " startup tab" deselect unwanted programs or stuff you don't need every boot.
    3) Download CCleaner. Run it and remove all temporary files and stuff. Also remove all useless registry entries.
    4) Use Node32 Online scanner and let it find and clean malware files.
    ttp://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/run
    5) Do same with Trend Micro online scanner -
    ttp://housecall.trendmicro.com/
    6) Do both again in safe mode.

When my pc is slow I just format it. Does take some time, but for me it's the best solution. I know a guy who always buys a new laptop when his laptop is running slow. So basically he buys a new laptop every 6 months, haha. I can barely hold my laugh everytime I see him with a new laptop.

Some time it may happen if you having lots of file in in your harddisk and if RAM is of very less i mean 2GB or below it then int may happens.Computer may be slow if some virus attacked on you PC.generally virus used to block your file. With this reason you can Scan your full system with goodquality of Antivirus like Avira or Mcafee.
