Question I never really got faceBook to be honest I seen it as ..........

Facebook to me was always too personal, through necessary evils I had to get one but I still don't get the people that just sit there and put their life story out online. Now I am one to talk because truth is.... I can't stay away from this forum. I love the regulars I talk to and meeting new people. However, on this forum I always leave with one of two things accomplished. I either learned something new about SEO. Or I helped someone with a problem they had concerning SEO or websites.
So I was doing a little thinking as I am sitting here in Texas at 10:57pm sippin' some Jim Beam. Wishing my buddy BlueArrow, Johnny Ray and a few others were here with me so we could enjoy a glass of Fine Kentucky Bourbon and switch out ideas. Anyway, I was wondering is the difference between loving the forum and loving the social sites like facebook a maturity thing? I see facebook as a "bragging rights" type of site for the most part.... a look at me thing. Where IMT is a "hey can I help you" or "lets share some knowledge" ..... I would be interested to hear some feed back on other Members thoughts.
One more thing, When I was growing up, and maybe this is just a southern country thing IDK, but we didn't air our dirty laundry so to speak..... we never let other people know our business but at the same time if someone was in trouble you helped. Some of us older guys on here, I would like to know would something like facebook ever have made it when you were growing up? Could you even imagine it? Heck, I was working daddys stores and unloading trucks at 13 years old so if yall are like me we would have asked "who has the time"!

Likewise here, that is what I think also. I have a Facebook account but not really that active and been reading my friends posts and well of course it's their life we really can't do anything about it.

It's ok for keeping in contact with those who aren't active anywhere else, but otherwise I don't see the attraction as a social site

This is almost my thoughts about facebook.
I have account, but use it just for business, I dont' have any friends from "real" life there and I don't want that.
If I would like to hear my friend and family I pick up the phone or go out have some beers, ride on motorcycle etc...
But these days sites such as facebook are imposed on us, by sites like google where you "need" to communicate to your customers or whatever by facebook,
I think this is lame and I would need all day posting shit on such sites doing nothing constructive.

Absolutely, I love IMtalk and once in a while its just talking to people like we are doing here. However, even then its a business aspect to it. I know my buddy on here Johnny Ray did some bounty hunting here about 5 years ago and the guy he arrested that an active warrant for indecency with a child on (5) accounts posted on facebook where he would be at for the weekend and J-ray an 3 other guys arrested him! Lol. It was like posting a sign "if anyone needs me I will be at this spot, during this date" Lol.
