Thread: Quick help with FTP

Hi,

Earlier, I have created a new wordpress blog but not completed yet. All I want to ask is, I tried with FTP client to transfer my file to my database. But it ask for the "Username", "URL", Password, etc. Which username, password and URL should I insert there?

You should be able to find the information in the help or FAQ sections provided by your hosting provider.

I use FileZilla for an FTP client. It is a good freeware FTP client. If you use FireFox there is an add on called FireFTP that also works well.

Typically the url would be the primary site url without http:// or www ie: sitename.com (some clients may require the format ftp://sitename.com), the user name would be your hosting account user name and the password would be your hosting account password.

You need to have ftp or ssh usrname and pass in order to transfer files.
Ask your hosting provider to give you user and pass

Filezilla works great for uploading multiple files. However, if I just need to upload one file I usually use the upload withing the cpanel of my hosting account.

I use FileZilla all the time.

Well from my point of views you have to try for filezilla to get your username & password.

these ftp information you can get from your hosting provider, usually when you buy hosting they email them to you. If you didn't get any email from them, just ask them for it.

Filezilla was voted the best FTP client of the year.
