How To Create A Heavy-Duty Password

Picking a strong password is of importance to all of us. And it is not always easy to know just exactly what makes a strong and secure password here are some rules.

A secure and safe password should adhere to these rules:
It must be at least 8 characters long.
It should contain special characters such as @&#!$^%
It should not be simply common words such as "password" or your login name, neither be your birth date, 123 or any words that can be found in the dictionary in any language.
And it should always contain a variety of both capital and lower case letters.

In addition, here are the essentials things that you should definitely avoid when creating your password: family names and dates of birth shouldn’t be included in a password; common words such as ‘airplane’ should be replaced with symbols and CAPITALS, example ‘a!rPLAn#e'.

Follow these rules and the hackers out there will have a much harder time hacking your stuff.

Another good technique is to make a short phrase or sentence and then move your hands one key to the left and type the same thing, producing utter gibberish but if you remember your phrase and to move left you will remember it easily.

There is one security expert who says that the most secure password is 3 unrelated words. I'm not able to post links yet, so Google this

Why Multi-word Phrases Make for More Secure Passwords Than Incomprehensible Gibberish

    And you'll find it.

Thanks for this tutorial. I use a couple of passwords depending on if it's a forum or a site.. When I create passwords it follows at least 4 of the rules you told us about.. I always laugh when people have the password as password it's so weak and shocked they dont get hacked more often...

Anyways thanks for the tutorial should help those new commers a lot..

Think of a sentence and use only the first letter of each word.
Use the numbers on your phone dial to convert words.
It's best to mix it all up with different characters, numbers, capital letters and small letters.
Use a different password for every account you create.
Don't use real words because software can be used to find them easily.
It's a good idea to change your passwords from time to time, say every two or three months

I usually pick a word (yes, at least 8 chars long) and replace certain chars with special chars or numbers.
Even though your password is strong, make sure you change it every now and again...
