    Choosing the Best Domain Name

It is believed that Google gives extra weightings when you have keywords in your domain name.

When choosing a domain name for SEO purposes, there are some basic rules to follow:
    - Do not use a name with a hyphen in it.
    - Try to include your main keyword in your domain.

Include the chosen keyword with another word, ensuring that the domain can easily be remembered. For example WebDesignSEO.

These types of domains score high on SEO, awarded rankings and easy for people to recognize for linking.
    - Ideally get the .com version of your chosen domain name. Different geographies place different emphasis on others domain types such as .ca, .cn, .in, etc.

That is correct, for ages I was telling people that keyword in url is important and easier to rank that domain in se, because every link you create as www.keyworddomain.com has actualy keyword in it, so you will get more desired keywords in anshors just because of domain name.
Also try to put your main keyword/s first in domain name, then add some sufix.

I have to disagree about not using hyphen, I've seen plenty of sites ranking number 1 with hyphens. But I do agree that keyword in the domain name is very essential.

If you want good sponsors (advertisers) for your website, a domain name is usually helpful. It tends to give your website an aura of respectability.

you are correct, but domains with brandable names such as twitter,Digg, youtube and etc also good. Google engineer Matt Cutts said that keywords in domain name is not so important as what people say, most important is tittle of the website.

When you think about how it would benefit a site in regards to SE bots, making sure that your domain name reflects your primary keyword is really important. In the beginning stages, while you are still creating your site and have done all the research, making sure from the very beginning that your site is optimized as well as possible, can give you a boost in the right direction.

As a consequence, any pages added after that will be optimized automatically ( in the URL i mean) and you could get crawled and indexed a lot quicker. For your first page, its best to have your primary keyword in the domain name, and then add keywords from your secondary list into all the other pages that follow.

I have used keyword domains for a long time and have had very good result. I focus on .info domains and no matter what others say those work fine for me with keywords in. But Recently I heard bad news about this. Google had descended to give less values for this factor in their search algorithm.

Check that matt cutts video about it and you ll see about it. Not that i agree with everything he says in this video. Like that people should focus on Branded domains rather than keyword domains.
