Dedicated server is for you who have high-visitors website and feel that shared hosting isn’t enough to afford it. Using shared hosting for high visitor website is just too risky because you can be suspected because eat up their server memory.

By using dedicated server, you don’t need to worry about getting suspected. You’ll get personal hosting so visitors will load your website faster. Big site like Amazon, Google, and Wikipedia is using dedicated server to keep running well.

I think the use of dedicated hosting only if you really need this type of hosting, for me personally still use shared hosting because it is only in use to manage multiple blogs only. but for want to develop a serious business and requires a reliable hosting with a large capacity, probably dedicated hosting is the right choice.

If you want to run your own scripts or anything heavily relying on databases, a dedicated server is a good idea. Shared hosting is fast and reliable nowadays, but the bottleneck is always memory, cpu and often the shared database servers.

Running 100 wordpress blogs in a shared $5-$9 account isn't a problem as long as you are using cache plugins, it totally depends on what kind of scripts are used and how performance hungry they are.

I like to repair old computers and laptops, wipe them, put a lite version of xp pro on them and have them do my dedicated work. I use teamviewer to remote login to my machines. I run things like senuke, scrapebox, tweetadder, and backlinker on them so far.
