It depends on you, whether you want to target keyword with your URL or you want branding of your website.

It is believed that its good to place hyphens as separators in your domain name, but now it is less important. This may appear spammy to the search engines.

As far as domain extension is concerned, they are same unless you are targeting a specific geographic location.

I think also .co is treated the same as .com and .net as well.

competitive.. for more detail you need to check with keyword tools, but my personal view i would say very competitive, beside logo and design are widely market, a lot of forum, personal services provide this kind of service
