Intel demostrates the first 22nm Web Server for your Home

This Youtube Video was shot within the Intel home office demo labs at the same time as arrangement for the first popular showing of a laptop, desktop and server running chip fabricated with Intel's reinvented transistors. These revamped, littler 22-nanometer transistors hae been manufactured with a novel 3-D objective that quite expands each and every transitor's present rush. The preferable the rush, the preferred the exhibition.

    My Questions:

Do you see the 22nm Web Server???
Is it true that we all using in the future web servers in our home???

    this is very cool

This will be the tick in Intel's tick-tock technology development program. A 'tick' is a reduction in feature size and a 'tock' is an improvement in the architecture. With smaller features come reduced power consumption. This means that they can offer improved battery life for mobile technologies or more features/functions at a given power level for desktop/server applications. The announcement proves that they are on target for a summer/fall introduction for new/better chips.

There are many uses for servers in the home. Probably the most widely used home servers at the present time are media servers. Videos and music are stored on the server and available to all of the computers connected to the local area network. Other local server uses are for data storage and backup. Servers in the home are likely to become more common, but having an actual web server at home, particularly for a high volume site/sites is a less likely scenario. To serve a high volume of data requires a good backbone connection and far better uplink speeds than are commonly offered by ISPs. Hosting a web server is against the TOS of many, if not most, ISPs, as well.

This announcement is typical of Intel's development/PR cycle. It means that they have working 22nm silicon and more importantly a manufacturing process. A reduction of feature size may mean modification of existing equipment or even upgrading to new equipment for many of the manufacturing processes.

This is easy to do in the development lab but more complex in a production facility. The next step will be to convert a line or a whole production facility to the 22nm process as a pilot project. When that is done Intel may send out engineering samples to MB manufactures and to review sites like AnandTech and Tom's Hardware. If all of this goes well we could begin to see 22nm products introduced in the late fall or early next year. Production will be limited at first because whole plants must be upgraded to produce the new feature size. Usually the first products introduced are ones with a higher profit margin and then the technology trickles down to their main stream products.
