    Domain Names

Nowadays you must have heard that many new TLD's has been released by the registry example .hotel, .ratio, .blah blah....

So is that the end of Crown for at dot com or these dot TLD's need to go long before something can happen or Crown is Crown..

What is your say on this?

I am rather feel comfortable to these TLD's like if i have a hotel website I would like to have .hotel as my main site, apart purchasing dot com for safety & redirecting to my .hotel domain.

I think that .com is still the king and will be for some time, although I don't think that the TDL has the importance that it formerly had. Most people reach a site through a link either from a search or a link they see on a site or in an email (or a bookmark). Many never see the TDL unless they happen to look at the address bar when they reach the site. I think that there are very few that would be concerned about the TDL if they happened to notice. The new TDLs may have a slight advantage as far as being easy to remember and domain name availability, but how often do you actually type an address in the browser address bar.

One concern is renewal on these names. Many times TDLs are sold on a promotional basis for a reasonable price but the renewal cost can be much higher. This was often the case for .info domains and I have one .ws that was very reasonably priced to purchase ($8.99 as I recall) but renewal is listed at $39.95 by my registrar.

Well I agree most with you, but the more on the Pricing Part is a new thought... People think of SEO more and They thinking Pricing More and started a New Price Race on TLD's

Hadn't this be the new strategy by the Registry Holders to earn more by using the Peoples & Company to Run for both dot com & dot Specific Industry TLD...

This is certainly leading to numerous possible routes for them to get $$$$
