Difference between the Child theme and Parent theme?

I want to know the difference between the Child theme and Parent theme in WordPress?

This seems to be a pretty basic question from one whose sig reads 'WordPress Development Company'!! I am not so sure that a question like this would build confidence in prospective customers.

When putting up a WP site one of the considerations is the theme. Although it is possible to design or have designed a custom theme many people will select a free theme or purchase a license for an off the shelf theme. Some will use that theme without modification. Others will modify the theme so that it better suits their purpose. If a theme is modified the original package becomes the parent and the result of the modification becomes the child of that original theme.

The Parent theme WordPress is like the backbone of your website. It inherit its property to another WordPress theme and the child theme is actually going to customize how the website actually looks like so picture. It can not function without the parent theme and through the child theme you can easily modify your website without any changing in parent theme.

Child themes will have the properties of the parent theme and also when you want to customize an existing WordPress theme without losing the ability to upgrade that theme. So we can edit the child theme with more upgraded things.
