how photoshop is an ultimate tool in web design field?

We have so many open source image editing software tools and we have
many tools from adobe only like illustrator, indesign, , light room, and many but they
Can't replace the position of photoshop.
In my experience I can say it is because of some most useful options like
move, marquee, lasso, pen, draw, scene modes, gradients, and filters effects.

Absolutely you are correct. I too do not think that anything cannot replace photoshop though some people are using coral draw etc.

True, Photoshop is the be all and end all of image editing software, a few good replacements have tried though, like the gimp, for example. With loads of plugins and addons that you can use to set gimp up to work exactly like Photoshop. Truth is though, no matter how much it works like Photoshop, it's never going to be Photoshop.

Photoshop is very useful and popular tool for an image editing. As we know design a website is not easy but using this tool you can solve all kinds of image editing problem and once you teach Photoshop it is quite easy to operate. Most of web designer are using this tool because by this tool you can create and edit photographs, logos and website exactly the way they want.

Yes there is no doubt that photoshop is best but what if you need vector images. If you need vector images then I think Illustrator will be better.

I can tell you Photoshop has a friendlier interface than Corel Draw

here you have mentioned some key points about design tools like gimp. Gimp is also a good design tool but it is not having the tools like photoshop.

When you see photo shop cs 6 there are some awesome effects, filters, indicators and plugins.

it makes our work faster.

Absolutely correct, That is the reason Photoshop is far ahead of any of its competitor and I can tell you one more thing that Photoshop is now becoming a household name and everyone knows about this. There technology is also growing with time and now they are using cloud.
But it is funny that your professor had something personal with Photoshop, I am trying to think what could have been the reason. Has anyone used it to make his sketch and later he found that it was made with Photoshop? hahahah... I am sorry, just kidding.
