if you run on a wordpress site there are a lot of plugins to optimize your database. t helps to load your site faster.
you can also use multiply databases for one site that also reduces the load

its not optimization requires over there its minimization requires at database for which you need experts database developers who can help you at that task .. all what you can do as best idea is take backup of old data and delete from your server that old database from live server than you will get reduced space from same ..
i used to do it years ago when i was feasible economically for basic plan in web hosting but had good database in local and live .. :)
