I wonder if you are talking about this accounting system called SAP. I used it at my firstever job after college.

Nice one Nemanja...I've googled too but I didn't understand a word. I guess the pros can understand much faster.

Yes it is the one used for accounting. The only thing is this they are connecting the entire facility with it. The stores, accounts, procurement department, production lines and even the gate passes that are issued.

Hey I just clicked on the link now, its a great one. How do you make animations like that? At first i thought you just changed the color for fun
If I remember correct it's a system which can connect all branches of a company in different countries. SEO in US head office can check how accounts work in their Japan branch or somewhere else. It connect everything in your business. Every single process. Down side. You pick the wrong printer and your print outs might come from Bangkok branch (being there. It's the only time I have pissed so many people from several countries same time).
Hahaha....that's a good one. Sending prints to some other country. My company is not located in the different countries at the moment but they are considering Bangladesh for it. But they do have many different production units within the city and have over 6k employees at the moment. There was a huge problem with all the data and because of this they are investing in the SAP project. And they would be using the cloud for storing the information so that the CEOs would be able to monitor even on the go.
But is it necessary to have SAP? What do you think is the future of it? I've seen an ad some days ago for recruiting SAP consultants and their salaries are eye popping. A cousin of mine is a SAP consultant in IBM but he never has the time to meet us and explain. You know, people have less time for their relatives once they score big in their life.
Even those days our general believe was SAP is a freaking while elephant. It cost the company insane amount of money for buying it and maintain. But it was local insurance company and mother company was Zurich Insurance Group. Swiss seems so paranoid about these stuff.
I think all the big guys are paranoid about technology. They won't give you a simple raise but invest millions in crazy stuff just to look like a company that is just too organized.
@james it is old thing, I think they use flash for that
At my old company(where I used to work) they where ecstatic about SAP (as every bigger company is, or its managers)
and actually formed a team to study and bring some guy who knows SAP to work with them and manage that team...
Long story short, after 2 years they shut it down and continue without it.
Money well spent

LOL Namanja....I see the same story being repeated here. A new IT manager has just been hired and he's been awarded a company car, a brand new S4 with a sim having unlimited calling capacity plus his one month salary is equal to what I earn in the entire year. The company is all nuts over this guy and he talks like he is no less than Napoleon, they all listen to him like a messenger sent from heaven. Right now the advancements are, a new 4500 sq ft It room has been created which was very costly. A dozen air conditioners have been installed and a huge server has been installed. I think the investment was equal to start another production unit. And the investment is still going on and the CEOs are just too excited over all of this. What a waste of money. If they had just awarded us a puny raise, we would have worked more efficiently than computers
Yep same happened in where I worked too. I did quit from that company long before their SAP project fallen apart but it didn't work. The management changed again and new people didn't even look at the system. lol
I think top guys will come to sense when they see profits are going down pretty badly. Maybe this new can do an miracle and increase profits.
