How much coding experince does one need?

So how much coding experince in HTML or PHP should a person need to be able to run a good sucessful website?
Can anyone just do it with no experince?

I started with little and started building from there but I don't know how anyone can do it with no experince.

Buy some hosting, click on a one-click WP install, pick a theme and start adding content. No coding necessary at all.

As long as it works Google doesn't care much about the site, just the content.

No need for any coding knowledge at all if you ask me.
It can come in handy if you have some experience in it, but you don't need it.

You can find countless free templates for php or html sites (which you can edit in an easy to use editor like Dreamweaver), but the easiest would be Wordpress indeed.
Pick a theme and start adding content...website done for you.

Coding (PHP) and MySQL knowledge has helped me tramedously in site design and site management. I agree with the others that it's not neccecary to know but it has been a great plus. My bet is that you'll naturally be exposed to these systems and that will help you slowly absorb php (which is an incredibly easy language to start with because it's so intuitive and well documented) and even easier MySQL database management.
