Thread: instant recording of a member vote

I need help figuring this out. I have a links directory. I am trying to allow members to add their favorite links to their "my" page.

So there is button: add to favorites

How can I have them add a link to their favorites WITHOUT leaving the page or refreshing the page?

For example, like the instant rating at yahoo music where you move your mouse over the widget of 5 stars and as soon as you select your desired star, and click, the code will automatically save your vote (WITHOUT leaving the page.)

For this you would need to use the jquery code to setup a listen on the button being clicked, and then once clicked use ajax to send a request to a seperate php file that will do the work for you. Ajax allows us to make calls to other scripts without having to actually leave the page.
I'm young here so I can't link, but running a search on jquery+ajax examples & tutorials should help you start to learn how you might go about it.
