    About HTML

    Hello Guys,
I am not a programmer geek, still studying and finding out how it works. Looking for some info on HTML characters, I mean are there only characters like <b>, <img>, etc including for bold, italic, etc or there are others too?
If yes can you mention below?

What you are inquiring about are called html tags. There are many more, too many to list here. The w3c schools would be a good place to start if you want to dig in a bit. I have also seen a site called htmldog recommended as having some good beginner level tutorials.

These days not too much html knowledge is needed to put up a website. Having more knowledge will help you do a better job and to understand how things work.

Many people use WordPress to put up a site and it is quite user friendly. You may think that WP is just for blogs, but many sites are built on a WP base. With the introduction of WP 3.0 they even changed the default byline from 'just another WordPress blog' to 'just another WordPress site'.

A good WYSIWYG web editor will write the code for you for a static site. Adobe DreamWeaver is the premier software in this class, but it is a bit expensive for a non-pro user. I use a freeware editor called KompoZer that is capable of writing good, standards compliant code if you know how to use it.

I agree. I have used dreamweaver before, and you still need to rely on your own code knowledge regardless of what language you're coding in. HTML and XHTML are a good start and there are many places other than the W3C school you could learn from, but they would be the better option because they are the folks responsible for it all. WordPress is a really great alternative, I am "studying" it at the moment and there you would also need a little knowledge about PHP, HTML and CSS if you want to play around with custom titles. Installing it is easy, you can use installer wizards, or you could install it manually, where you would just need to edit the wp_config file.

If you're still worried that you might not be comfortable with all the code, you can use an editor like Netobjects Essentials, which is free, and lets you basically create a site almost in the same manner you would create a word document, and you would be able to see the code behind what you're doing and it could help you along your way.
