If thats its only backlinks yes, try to have variety. As with most things in life, too much of a good thing is bad.

Even if you are getting I don't think there must be any problem. We never say that too many links from .com sites is harmful. Yeah try to minimize backlinks from dk, es, co.uk sites, but edu, gov and .com are global domains and I think more backlinks from edu and gov is good.

Respectfully I would like to tell you that, you may not say too many links from .com sites are harmful. But google may not consider such situation if you made this links yourselves just for hunting backlink within a short time period. The same can happen for .edu or top level domain backlinks.

I agree too much backlink hunting can create problem. But what I meant is too many backlinks specifically from edu is not going to harm (comparing from .com sites). They both are global domains and it is said that edu and gov don't backlink too much to non-edu/gov sites and if one gets those backlinks then your .com site is trustworthy and respectful.

Again there is a limit to too much of everything, but then if one is getting backlinks from low quality sites then it is problem, but if one is getting edu backlink from moderately good sites then it would be really good.

I would like if you share from where are you getting edu backlinks if you want.

Getting backlinks from a authoritative domains is most valuable part of link building, but over doing certain good thing is also a bad indicator of you going to the wrong way, so try to take backlinks from authoritative domains like .edu or .org but do not only depend on those for getting your site on the top

IMO it would not have to be as long as you have done it moderately, Google might slap you with a flag once you made all those backlinks once.
