    Deep linking?

Ok, I know what it is and why it should be done. I just have one question: Does deep linking also help SERPs for the root domain? I'm assuming it does? Is there some kind of ratio of links to the root domain vs deep links, and is it ok to use the same anchor keywords for both?

    Thanks!

There is no ratio, and you don't have to build links for all deep links, because it won't look natural, but building links to deep links is a must when it comes to SEO.
You can use what ever anchor you want, try to not use keywords you want to rank for all the time, in this case less and mixed anchor are better for both home page and deep links, I know it sounds weird, but tested and proven many times.
some numbers, you should use your main anchor/s in max 50% of incoming links rest of it can be variations of that anchor/s, domain name and other related (LSI) keywords.
