Recently, many EMD sites were affected by the Google update which targets exact match domains and almost everyone is looking for ways to recover from it.
Today while surfing, I found a pretty awesome post that went viral over the social media.

EMD stands for "Exact Match Domain".... As the name says, the new algo targets domains that contains main keywords in the domain.Quote:

Let me add, that absurd article suggests now making your website a "brand." Of course, if you are a "brand" that is what people search for meaning your website is suddenly an "EMD" - where the domain matches the search. If you are trying to avoid a "penalty" you would not want anyone searching on your domain name, which means you would not want a brand.
I would assume the article and the Google update are focusing on exact keyword match domains rather than brand name domains. By this I mean a website such as http://thisishowtogetasixpack.com/ will be penalised for having a keyword in the title. Whereas a site such as Internet Marketing & SEO Forum | IMTalk.org would not be penalised because it is not using words from the dictionary, but people still search for it so it would imply it is a good, brand-name website rather than one just using highly searched keywords as the domain.Quote:

I agree with the points that kindsvater has made. The article seems to be quite confusing on its view on Branding and EMD.
the google updates are really very tough with websites.
We will beat them though, there is always a way just doing it the right way is best and there is nothing wrong with what Google are doing because they just do not want spammers spamming.
Make Your Website A Brand is the key point from that post to beat update on EMD
