Saw this in Mat Cutts twitter yesterday. It says There is a upcoming algo change that will be targeting law quality "Exact-Match" domain names.

I have bunch of exact matching .info and other TLDs which are pointed at money sites. All those mini sites have unique nonspun content but every little of it. So I'm wondering what exactly they would be meaning by "low quality" there.

Yeah mate I am also wondering about the same question.Not aware how will google define "low quality" ?

I am wondering as well. I read on other sites that if you have quality unique contents on your EMD you don't have to worry.

I hope they will not be targeting long-tail EMD's. Kind of crappy of Google to throw that out there with no real explanation, though we should not e surprised. He could have meant low quality content on EMD's all the way to stuff like bottled-water-brands.com. I have bed feeling about this because if any site including a EMD that has now quality stuff on it is not doing well. So that leads me to believe that they will be hitting non-braded EMD's like the one above.

I hope I'm wrong.

I remember Mat Cutt guy mentioning in one of his Videos Google will be lowering the weight they had given to keywords in domain name and also they will looking to the fact "exact keyword domains" ranking better than brand names. That was long before Panda and Penguin I think. This will help online stores and brands a lot.

it's really ugly, google don't love us, i have many E in .info .pro and even .eu with no more than 3 or 4 article in them.

raglady, I wouldn't fret just yet, depends on how they define quality. It could be your posts are of great quality and bring value to the users - and hopefully wouldn't be touched. At least, that's what I'm hoping will be the situation with my sites as well! :|

I've had a browse on a private members internet forum I use, and bizarely a lot of the sites that appear to have been hit thus far seem to be .org's. Does this related to anyone on here?

I have several .org's but none have really ranked well as yet, so I can't really see this for myself.

Interestingly, I have an emd that has actually moved up from #2 to #1 in Google - with only 3 manually written posts. If this is the end position after the algorithm then it just goes to show how important hand written posts are!

I have over 50 EMDs. I have been using those for getting links for a long time ever since I realized Google gonna start hitting hard those automated software and duplicate content. Always used unique content and it was working well till last month. Some of those sites vanished from first 5 pages of SERP. So I guess using couple of unique articles not gonna work anymore. Sites has to look realistic and also useful now. I guess things like Social media like Youtube and Social networking traffic tell Google if these sites are real and people use those or not.

Very true. Was just having a think about the whole social media aspect of internet marketing and if it's natural then that's probably one of the most ideal tools of IM in this day and age. If not, it still obviously has advantages but having said that I've just found this article Facebook starts deleting fake 'likes' - Hindustan Times - feels like the whole web is all of a sudden having a crackdown!!

Now I can confirm unique content alone not gonna save your sites. over dozen of my EMD sites have vanished from SERP within last 24 hours. Most of these sites were in first page for their exact match keyword phrase.

Same is the case with me .... I thought it was a google dance but now I don't think it is !!

It's not Google dance. I wish Google had defined what is a Low quality EMD is. Also I hope they will redo this because I remember when they had launched Penguin filter lots of good sites got hit too. Later Google returned those sites back to SERP.

Hope they do this soon ... Being patient is what we can do !

Just out of interest, what were the typical lengths of the posts on those sites?

Minimum of 500 words

Yep mine were also 300 - 500. But Im sure not more than that. Also I think they haven't perfected it yet. Search Google for "Cheap Instant Cameras" check the site at top of result ( cheapinstantcameras DOT com)

If they think this is not a low quality site and let it stay at top then I'm really confused.

Being relatively new to IM, previous Google updates haven't recently concerned me. The growing consensus is to give it a couple of weeks to settle down once Google has perfected the alogo and we know exactly the impact it's hard on our sites though.

Seems a bit lame though, as proactive is probably the best approach, but when we're not really sure how they're defining low quality, then it's a bit of a struggle!

Also I am wondering with the same question! How will google define low quality?

All my EMD's all tanked within the last 24 hours. Some better than others when it comes to quality but all unique. Funny thing is one of my sites that is all well written and gets plenty of natural backlinks from real people on social sites like FB and Pinterest fell along with them. My most popular keyword only dropped from 1 to 3 but every other main keyword that I'm tracking tanked and not even showing in top 100. Traffic has almost died. I hope Google tweaks this. Man I hate them.....
