Hi all. Sorry if I missed a specific thread about this, but I was wondering if anyone was having any luck recovering from the Penguin update? I haven't done much with my affected sites up until now. Instead, I started working on some new projects. Now I thought I'd devote a little bit of time to trying to get some of my rankings back. Here is my plan:
1. De-optimize my post titles that were far too keyword based.
2. Make sure that I don't have any old posts that have a keyword density that might be considered too high.
3. Put up some fresh posts.
4. Work on watering down my backlinks. I know that I have far too many exact match anchored links pointing at my sites. I am starting by dripping generic Supercharged bookmarks at them. I'm thinking of doing some commenting on related blogs w/just my name as an anchor. I will also be using some 2.0 sites with more general anchors and then maybe hitting them with a Fiverr blast or more SC bookmarks. I don't really want to start aiming a bunch of garbage links directly at any of my sites.
This is where my question comes in. Has anyone found any other methods for taming the Penguin? How about other sources of easy, but worthwhile, generic backlinks to point at sites that have been spanked due to over-optimization? Thanks for any input.
