Joe: I think maybe I’m catching on here. What you’re saying is that I should … umm … I should pretend I don’t know some things even though I know them. I should make believe that I’m one way when really I’m another. … In a way, it’s like I should kind of play hard to get. … Would you say that?

Matt: Me? No, I wouldn’t say that. That sounds stupid.

Joe: I know it sounds stupid, but would you say it’s true?

Matt: What is “true”?

Joe: Ummm … Not false?

Matt: That was a rhetorical question.

Joe: Was it? … Oh, sorry. Umm … well, I guess I just have one more question.

Matt: Go ahead.

Joe: So these rules about which rules to follow – are they secret too?

Matt: Of course.

Joe: But … but … none of this makes any sense!

It just looks like to me that Matt Cutts is saying the same thing he usually says and has been saying for a long time. Do on page SEO but don't do off page SEO.

These are the kind of posts that drive me crazy. jduke6, your post is telling people that Matt Cutts actually said what you posted. I found that not to be true in like 2 minutes of research only going to the page that Phoenyx posted for you...

Something that sound interesting that if We Follow few Right Rules by Ignoring other Right rules then also it would Helps Rather not Going for Blackhat is More Good to Go for Few Whitehat links :) if m not Wrong !

Good conversation but whatever we follow today may be wrong in future as Google keeps on changing these rules with time.

Yeah Google is all over the board right now, banning adsense accounts left and right and slapping sites for "unnatural links". They're so out of hand that they actually reversed one of their updates a few days ago because it removed so many sites. The over optimization stuff is ridiculous, and is real disturbing where it's all heading.

That was actually a mistake they made and admitted to it. My site was one of the many sites effected. Look here for more information.
