    Google Analytics.....Block Own Visits

    Hi guys,

I know I'll get laughed at for this, but I've tried to stop my own visits being recorded on GA and they still come up. It's really annoying as I spend a long time on the 'psychology' of each page and it messes with the bounce rate/length of visit. I've tried blocking my IP address but even when I don't use a VPN my IP changes every few minutes thanks to my ISP - I check in Gmail at the bottom of the page and in 20 minutes there's about 15 different IP addresses.

What else can I do? Or is there a better analytics supplier I can use? I've tried one (which I can't remember the name of now) and it wasn't very good.

I wonder if the net range operator works in G Analytics filters. It is something like xxx.xxx.xxx.C/24?. Dynamic IPs from an ISP are generally within a net range. Usually it is only the last three digits that change. I saw something about this in a cpanel from Hostgator, but I don't remember exactly where it was, nor do I know if it will work in GA. It might be worth checking into, though.

Cool mate, thanks. I'll look into it. I live in Thailand at the moment, although sometimes stay in Malaysia, and the ISP is weird. Sometimes the start IP is 118.XXX.XX and other times it's 101.XXX etc. It's the worst internet in the world too, advertised as 6MB for $20 but in reality it's 1MB DL my mobile dongle jobby gets better than that but that's $20 a week! It's not cheap here and one of the reasons why we're heading back to the UK for 30MB for the same price.

Create a custom filter using pattern to stop all range.

You can create filter pattern here How do I exclude traffic from a range of IP addresses? - Analytics Help

I have used it and stopped all my visits from an ip range like 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.255 so you can set any range but preferably set your ISP range.
