No, I don't think google would want to ban a top rating site just like that. Maybe you need to work more on your SEO of your website. Though this is strange, I never heard this before from anyone else!
Maybe you have put some copyright content or some malacious things on your site. Check google webmaster tools.
Try to search if you site is still indexed at google.
search for this: "site:www.yoursite.com"
If this return some results and your main page, then you are not banned and maybe your site is dropped in SERP's or it is just a another "google dance" and after a while your site will come back to some result page.
Yeah! Admin is right first go for Google and search your site using this "site:www(dot)yoursite(dot)com" it will help you show the pages which are still existing in Google's database. And if any of your page is available then you must work on your SERP.
