Just submit your site directly to google, or use one of the free search engine submission services. That gets your site indexed and crawled fast.

Yes , backlinks are very useful , but you will have to choose a good site , forum or edu site to build a backlink.

The best way to get your site crawled is to submit your site to Google's Webmaster's Tools.

Build a sitemap for that site and submit it to Google Webmaster's tools...
There are various other things to optimize such as tags, descriptions and so on.
