    Would you risk it ?

Would you risk jeopardising your websites future, using SEO tools and techniques that are claimed to be so effective (mostly for just a short timeperiod), but you've heard rumors about getting penalized if you use them?

Just to try and get some money out of it ?

I have a testsite where i can play around SEO. If a technique is good, i can use it for other sites. So far i have always luck with my tests :-)
If the day comes where i kill the site, i will make a new one for testing.

Sounds like you're talking about black hat or grey hat techniques. Nope, my websites are my major source of income. Don't want to jeopardize that!

at the moment, i am not being penalized yet, i have one website that i use solely to test out new tools/method.. so if the tools/method not harm my site after a certain moment of using it, then i will proceed to implement to other site

Mh, not necessarily. There are many many SEO techniques, and if you override one technique with a other, you can get bad results. Blackhat, Greyhat, Whitehat ... all is SEO and sometimes you have to make grey or blackhat to test to find out what is whitehat.

For example: if you make yourself 50 social bookmarks manually on different sites with different usernames -> is this now black or whitehat? :-)

Or you make 30 different press releases for forcing a adsense blog, whats about that? is this white, grey or black?

It is very difficult to say what black and whitehat is.

agreed with proseocontent, besides some people just believe if you do automatically it can be considered as black hat technique, but if you do manually, then you can be considered as white hat.... but if you make hundred of posts manually per day that still can be considered as black hat rather than automatically you just posted 10 link per day only

The main reason what i think most of IM'rs jeopardising their website are the run for being on the top in short span of time in order to earn fast money.

If you do the SEO (Mark it SEO, not only Link Building, but complete SEO) in timely manner & with Patience, you will get the results on long term basis & not just for a shortspan of time.

What most IM'rs (New & Middle level) do is that they run for being on the top to earn money & in their run they do all mainly linking (Not Complete SEO) on cosmic basis (from which ever possible places they can get it for Free/Cheap/Scammers), which lead them top for few hours or a day and then down to end for rest of the day in the year, making them more behind if they would be doing this in phased, timely & Patience manner.

For me, there is more to it than that. Somehow doing things automatically cuts the need for clients to spread the word. Which is one of the things I aim for. Yes, there is a lot of speculation about whether or not this tool or that tool works, or will get your site into trouble, and more times than not it will, but if I rely on automated software only, then I am showing my clients that I don't need them. It kinda cuts the interaction between myself and them a little. If that makes sense

I'm all about the long-term. I'd rather put in the work and sacrifice now and wait for the payoff down the road. Everything just starts to snowball once you hit that point, too.

Like they always say, "Good things come to those who wait".

that's true with everything you said... patience is virtue. how long you will survive and sustain in this industry if every thing you want fast and cheap.. sometime you need to sacrifice, just think about it

Yep, me too. I think it's awesome to have a test site or two lying around. Let's you really explore options without risking your main sites.

For my name sites I only use basic SEO along with what in Google webmaster guide lines. So all the tests and using those offers, software are used for my second tire sites and 3rd tire.

Short answer would be no on the money site. This is why I haven't had too many problems with updates. I would/do, however, use it as a 3rd and 4th tier for the 2nd tier links.

I usually make 2nd tier an extension of the money site branding, so if people look one level down in links, it's all clean. Nothing nasty.

These techniques are good for getting things indexed quick. Varying the anchors is important. I don't understand people selling blast packs that are like 1k to 10k links and only let you have 1 url and 1-2 anchors. It's insane. I only use people that would blast a list of urls with supper spun anchors.

Great question and discussion on this topic here, though...

Probably not risking it, otherwise you may loose what you are gaining now. But can experiment with on test sites having already low traffic.
