Hmmm, interesting. SEO is going to be highly competitive though, so your keywords are going to have to be thought of carefully. If you are going to be using the articles for "information" or "teaching" purposes, it would be a good idea to factor those into your keyword research? The more creative you would be the more descriptive and valuable domain name you can choose..... try to give priority to .com domain, if you find domain name which has your keyword it is much better, try to use short domain name.....

SEO is so saturated (in general) that to find a high-traffic, low-competition domain I'd lean towards a THREE or FOUR WORD exact-match domain - after doing very careful exact match keyword research and competition analysis.
I know from personal experience cheap people like FREE-anything: like 'freeseotools' or 'freeseohelp'. BEST is also a powerful word - like 'bestseoarticles'.
In such a competitive niche, near-term you should target the long tail to have any hope of getting onto Page One. For example, imagine a site like 'freewebsiteseotools' - over the long haul and with enough authority you might get rankings for 'free websites', 'free website seo', 'website seo tools' and eventually, maybe 'seo tools'.
It's going to hard to find a good .com name. I can suggest 100 and you will find all taken. Google Adword keyword tool and Domaintools.com is the one for you to use. This will take a while.

Depends on your knowledge and skills in regards to ranking for such a competitive word as SEO. If not you can always try other alternatives like Online Marketing, Internet Marketing etc
There are many debates about EMD today. Some of them said that EMD don't have any strenght at all on SERP, but the others said contrary. From my experience, EMD alone still has power for SERP. So try choose your domain as exact as your target keyword.
