Canonical Error - When your site has multiple url's for a Single page. In a clear way abc.com is your site and its opeing with or without www on both ways like.....
    abc.com
    www[dot]abc.com
This is consider as Canonical error, Google follow this as duplicate page and it'll effect you in ranking as well. So make it to a Particular one if users open abc.com then just Redirect it to www[dot]abc.com

Another form of a canonical error is when you have a page that replicates itself in different areas of the website, usually caused by back end developers taking short cuts during the development of a website. The easy fix for this would be to set up the rel=canonical attribute for the page you want the search engine to pay attention to.

A canonical URL allows you to tell search engines that certain similar URLs are actually one and the same. Using the canonical tag prevents problems caused by identical or "duplicate" content appearing on multiple URLs.

If a web page or website is accessed by several different urls, and the content is same on all the urls, then it can cause the issue of duplicate content, we can prevent duplicate content issue by placing canonical url in the header section of each page. This way we can tell Google that fore example site[dot]com and www[dot]site[dot]com shows same content but which one url is original and the other one is not original and this way Google will prevent our website with penalty. If we are not using canonical tags in our pages, then it is a canonical error if the data of one page is accessible or indexed by multiple urls.

    Cool

Canonical Error arises when 301 redirections are not properly in right place. It means single page URL can open multiple types in the search engine. It breaks the guidelines of Google Webmaster, it makes another copy of your website/page generate content duplicate issues.
We can resolve issues by place canonical URL in the header section of each page that generate issues of canonical. I explained you to give a small example of canonical issues as-
