Well, it really depends on what the main goal or function of your blog is. If monetization then goes with Wordpress otherwise go with the blogger if recreational in nature. Nevertheless visit this source to figure out the priority.

Blogger and wordpress both are good for free blogging and you can learn a lot of things before you start your paid blog, and also can get backlinks for your website therefore i will recomend you start blogging on blogger as well as wordpress.

The two major players in the personal blogging space are WordPress and Blogger (Google). Although these two well established names have been around the longest and have the largest user base,

It depends to some extent on your purpose. If you are building Web 2.0 properties for backlinks you are better off with high PR sites as they will be crawled more frequently and it will be easier to build some authority for your blog. There are a couple of lists of good Web 2.0 properties on the forum.

WordPress has just announced a partnership that allows some monetization on WordPress.com. Blogger has allowed some since some time in the past, maybe day one. This is not really a problem if you are looking for backlinks, but if you have commercial intent WP.com is now more of an option.

By Wordpress if you mean hosting at wordpress.com and you don't need it for SEO / Backlink then blogger is much better....

but if you looking for SEO both have almost same values..

I also would recommend WP. I'm beginning to like Google less day by day. I simply don't get it, I search for something and the results are just the opposite.

WP is good because many applications of plugins are available. but i like blogger better because i can post adsense on it even if i use free domain and hosting.

For me, Wordpress is the best because of its features and functions. It is really designed for blogging with SEO though you still need to work on other advanced SEO stuffs.

I always use wordpress, wordpress I think most good for SEO, but it all depends on relevance, not infrequently blogspot can be in the top page of google search results.

I would say Wordpress also, just because there is a massive user base and lots of free and premium themes you can use and customise.

One to look into though is Tumblr. With the introduction of static pages and easy to use interface, it might suit your needs. Although this platform is usually use for image heavy blogs. But keep an eye on them, they may bring out a tonne more features in the near future.
