Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum but certainly not new to SEO. I was creating websites using HTML and doing SEO for customers in 1995! That makes me a bit of a dinosaur but I have seen a lot of changes and learned a lot over the years. If you know all of this already then I apologize. I am sure a lot of people don't. Anyway here goes...

Following a defined plan is the best way to succeed with SEO. It is not necessary to do all of the work yourself but understanding the most effective SEO strategy is vital for your success. This article provides a ten step blueprint that has been proven to achieve high search engine rankings time after time.

Achieving success with SEO is simply a matter of following these ten rules:

Start With Keyword Research

You have to start with keyword research. You need to research the market to see what your potential customers are searching for and what the volume of searches for the keyword term is to decide on whether the term is worth going after or not. Of the many online research tools available, the Google Keyword Tool is free and the best to use.

Find Out How Competitive Your Keywords Are

Once you have a list of keywords that you want to target, you need to find out how many other web pages are competing for that term and how much authority they have so you can decide whether to target them or not. The formula is simple here. With highly competitive keywords, a lot of time and SEO work will need to be put in to see your site on the first page of the search engines. Get To The Top With Wordpress

Wordpress is an open source content management system that is easy to install and has a lot of useful plugins that will help with SEO. New pages are a snap with Wordpress as you don’t need to use FTP it is added instantly and a built in automatic RSS feed means that your new content will be quickly discovered by the search engines. The search engines love Wordpress sites and they will outrank other web site platforms easily in most cases.

Use A New Page For Each Keyword

A lot of people will try and rank for different keywords by using the same page but this is a big mistake. For each new page you create, make sure that you include the keyword in the page address or URL. Let’s say that you have an online dating site then a good secondary keyword page URL would be your onlinedatingsite.com/how-to-make-an-introduction.

Create New Unique Pages Often

Make sure that each new page of content that you add is unique. Writing unique content is a time consuming task that can be easily outsourced. It is not advisable to use PLR content for your pages but if you must then totally rewrite it before posting it. A good length for your article would be a minimum of 500 words and there is no maximum. Add new content at least once a week to begin with and once a month when your site is more established.

Video Is A Good Addition To Your Pages

The use of video is widespread now and search engines like it so mix them in with your text. You can add a relevant video from YouTube or create your own. Videos are good for your site.

Each One Of Your Pages Must Be Keyword Optimized

Use the keyword in the title of each page you make and mention the keyword often in the text that you write. This will ensure that the search engines are in no doubt what your pages are about and will help rankings. All web site platforms allow the use of H1, H2 and H3 or heading tags for sub headings so use them with your keyword included.

You Need To Get Backlinks

You need to obtain a number of external links from other people’s sites to your pages as the search engines consider this to be positive voting for your web site. There are a number of ways that these links can be gained and some examples are commenting on other people’s blog posts, creating newsworthy press releases, gaining links from blog networks and creating articles and submitting them to article directories. The key to link building is mixing up the type of links you get and consistency. Get as many links as you can.

Be Social And Get SEO Benefits

Getting lots of friends and followers to your Facebook and Twitter account is a really good idea. Facebook offer the facility to create a page about your business which you must do and also you need to send messages to your friends that will be displayed on their wall containing your web page link. In Twitter you can send out a tweet including your link to all of your followers. Links in the big social networks are given a lot of credibility by the search engines and your ranking position should improve as a result.

Take Regular SEO Action

You need to keep on doing SEO even if you are in the number one spot because if you don’t somebody else will soon take your place.

WordPress is a great platform. It allows you many options. You can create pages just as easily as posts in WordPress. However, each post also creates a post page with a unique URL. Have you found it better to create pages than to make posts?

I use both. If I want the content to stay around as a permanent fixture then I use pages as with a lot of themes they appear on the menu bar. Posts disappear after a while. From an SEO standpoint there is no difference.

Talking about videos, the more people spend time on your pages, the higher chance google will index/rank better, by watching videos, it is the useful tactics to make people stay longer.. am i right?

Absolutely. Google is penalizing sites for high bounce rates these days (which is why I don't use Google Analytics any more) and retaining visitors with video is a great move. The SE's also seem to like sites with mixed content too.

Oh i see, you are doing SEO for customers since 1995, 16 years had passed.. so i just wanna ask where do you see SEO industries 16 years from now? can you predict the future according to your experience? what will happen to the industries 16 years from now

It's absolutely impossible to predict anyting about IM in so many years.
about 2 years max you might have a good idea about how it COULD develop...that's all.

Technology and it's capacity about doubles every year.
Developments in internet go about 5 times faster, because of its versatality and clever people who know how to start hypes and rages.

More and more changes. If Google is still around it will still be changing its algorithm regularly! I think search engines have a fairly long life expectancy but who knows maybe something else will take their place. I can also seeing the major SE's getting greedy and offering top 10 spots to the highest bidders which would kill the SEO industry overnight! If you owned Google what would you do?

so how people bid so as to be top 10 spot? what if i owned Google? nothing much i can do, if i change the algorithm, people still can manipulate for that.... but Google must maintain/implement what they are doing now because many people got benefits right from SEO, such as web hosting company, advertising company, individuals, online products and much more... it will give economic growth to certain country

The whole reason for googole to change the algorithms all the time:

*** EXPLOITS ! ***

Every time it changes there's some clever dude out there who knows ow to exploit the change.
It's like Google has to keep up with those abusing google all the time...

Thanks grabow, all points are valuable to me so i bookmarked it. Video is the right option, now days Google search engine is giving more importance on video.

By using Video option on your site is the best choice i recommend it too, i have also added this feature and i experience it profitable, because visitors mostly interact with video content which tends to provide them good sort of knowledge.

that's true! even though the algorithm changes frequently or even everyday, yet people still can find a way to find the small glitch, the process is never ending, but still in the end Google get the profits also..

As the old saying goes, "Patience is virtue". Sometime you can give up when everything you do not exactly what you have planned before

Well we have to keep reading and stay with updates so you wont lose we have to change our self with time and google changes that is they only way I think seo will keep up.
BTW thank you for sharing this information which is very helpful to understand some thing which was in my mind.

About video, i added yotuube videos on my blog and it works, i gain rankings on both website and keywords.
