Giving image rights requiring a linkback

I have a lot of decent photos that I am considering offering for free on a licence requiring a link back to my site.

I know I will have to check for compliance from time to time but it may allow me to get some decent links for little effort.

Has anyone tried this? If so I would be interested to know how it worked out for you.

You have to searche a lot about it because there are lot of webmaster will give your link for your picture but after some days they will remove it and your picture will be still there. Therefore you have to search out some good webmasters for you backlinks.

What kind of photos do you have? I will give you credits on my sites...

Generally stuff relating to places and roads/cars and court buildings in the UK. London especially. e.g. road names, signs, important buildings, busy roads, fronts of courthouses. i am ading to the list regularly and in the next month I will be adding lots to my potential list.

It depends on the photos I guess. I use stock images from Deviant art a lot, but then I link back to the stock artist from my own gallery. It has merit though, if the images are high quality and they can be used for more than just a header, or to fill a spot on a site, you could get a lot of traffic out of it. Especially if some can be used by digital artists in their artworks.

I am always looking for great stock pics I can use in my art.

To earn some money why not stick them on iStockPhoto. Then you could earn some cash. If it's backlinks you want then you will just have to check them every now and again

You can't protect your pictures for sure but even if you manage to get backlinks from 20-30% of the total users this will also be good.

Your idea is cool man but there are many stock photo sites which sell photos for 0,20-0,30 cents. So you may get some low pr blogs backlinking to you but this in the end would be just a waste of time. I doubt some pr4+ would give you free backlinks for a photo You should find some better use for those photos.

Hi FeedPandaGM. I am not a professional photographer so probably cant sell them. I guess I am thinking of links from lower PR blogs and websites that are running on a shoestring.
Iif i could think of a better thing to do I sure would - thanks anyway.

Create your own web 2.0 blogs and put your photos on those blogs backlinking to your money site. This would be less time consuming than going around and asking for BL exchange , good luck
