I have a question for everyone. If you could pick one thing to improve SEO, what would it be.

on page seo and off page seo
all you have mastered both of them ..

All is needed but if only thing thing is allowed, I'll go with on site seo.

Do your SEO according to the Search engine recommendations . Don't spam , Use White hat quality link building campaigns . Don't try it for 1-2 month . keep it upto year to get succeeded in SEO

Without doubt as the num. 1 thing make sure you have your keyword written in yout title tag!

on-page SEO, if thats too broad of an answer then I will say meta tag optimization. I could just write quality content or make a good website and the backlinks will come in.

Both on page and off page are important to increasing site visibility. Ultimately, you are creating a site for people so if they like it, it will help the search engines to like it,too. New and well written content added and updated frequently would be the most important thing seeing if people don't find your site interesting, all your best seo efforts won't help you do more business.

Backlinks will be the best. So try to build quality backlinks for your website.

Make sure you do as much on-page SEO as you can and don't miss anything. Then you'll be ready for off-page SEO and can continue with it. Its like adding gas to a car ... you need to keep adding it to keep it running.

Contextual blog posts on high PR blogs has worked best for me.

Relevance throughout your entire website, using relevant anchor text links to other pages on your site. Write your articles and content theme based, meaning write "general" and specific about the subject. Use your keywords wisely in the usual places, but don't overdo it. You might get penalized for using too many keywords on your pages.
