Yahoo Site Explorer is Gone

I was suppose to check some backlink details over Site Explorer this morning and was surprised that it has been shut down. Yahoo says that it has been integrated with Bing Webmasters tools, but I think you will have to register and include your website. Anyone tried Bing webmasters? I am afraid it's just another platform similar to Google webmasters where they can spy on websites and take advantage of opportunities they can get from your page.

Yeap yahoo site explorer is closed now and we can't use this stunning online free facility to check backlinks, now it will be redirect on bing webmaster tool, it is really a sad news for all SEOs.

Bing webmaster tools are based upon the Google webmaster tools. I haven't tried BWT but tried Microsoft's IIS tool kit, it is a detailed and comprehensive toolkit to configure your site in SEO point of view. It particularly includes detailed site analysis report.

Yes it was a bad news for all SEOs that yahoo site explorer is not working now and redirecting on bing webmaster tool. It was increadible and very important tool of yahoo. In my opinion in future yahoo and bing can start any join project, may be in social media.

Unfortunately, there aren't any really reliable and comprehensive free sources any more that are a real alternative for YSE. In my opinion, paying for the OpenSiteExplorer or MajesticSEO is the best choice. It's an investment in your business and essential for every serious marketer.

I had been using Yahoo Site Explorer for nearly five years and have grown to love it. But when I heard early last year that Yahoo was planning to discontinue it, I decided to spend the money and try out SEOmoz's Open Site Explorer. I haven't looked back since. It's definitely worth the money, especially if you're doing heavy-duty SEO.

But I did stumble upon a decent and FREE alternative to Yahoo Site Explorer during this past PubCon... Blekko. This search engine provides SEO data and metrics -- and more of it.

So if you don't want to pay for an SEOmoz account (Open Site Explorer), this is your next best bet. Just do a Blekko search for the domain and then click on the "seo" link. You'll get the same top-1000 backlinks that Yahoo Site Explorer would give. But you also get other metrics, such as where the links are coming from and any content duplication issues.

All in all, I think Blekko will prove to be an upgrade from Yahoo Site Explorer. So RIP to YSE.
