Agree at some extent so there are many other like SEOCHAT, Mattcutts Blog, Official Google Blog are good to read because i also had learnt from here but you should research on Google to read further to justigy your knowledge as well.

I have read the Google Start Guide pdf a few days ago, but personally it didn't help me that much. Although it is a nice intro text if you know next to nothing about seo.

Google has so many places to learn well and obtain their resources, if you are looking for help related to Adsense then it has create Adsense blog which would answer almost all the Adsense related question, also you can use Google Toolbar, Google Analytic, Google Adwords Keyword tool, Google Trend and so many more.
