Is repeating your main keywords in the menu a smart move?

I'm currently working on a website which has a menu on the left side of the page. It kinda looks like this:

    Apple
    Apple information
    Apple questions
    Apple experiences

    Banana
    Banana information
    Banana questions
    Banana experiences

Is it smart to do it this way? What I'm worrying about is that it does look a little odd for the user. Besides I think the site would qualify as a high quality website (in terms of: lots of time and effort has been put in layout and content creation). If the site would eventually get sitelinks in Google it would even look weirder since the keywords I'm focussing on are relatively long.

Is it worth the trouble? Or would those kind of anchor links not be worth seo-wise anyhow.

Its a smart move. Check whether the given keywords in the menu section are having relevant anchor text..

    hi nescio,
it's really a smart move because if you have the anchor text in the links then it will pass link juice to the internal pages.
this will help you to build the internal links in your website.

Its really nice. But before doing this just check the key word density in that page. Its may cause key word stuffing.

There is absolutely no advantage to repeating key words at all. Instead, you should see the first 5 keywords in your meta-tags of the keywords that you are in order of relevance and importance of the promotion to be considered.

This is not appealing to me... Its looks like your are deliberately trying to stuff keywords in your text.
In my opinion, its not a good idea.
